|Hoffman finished his BYU career with 43 straight starts, leading the Cougars in receiving yards in each of his last two seasons. He recorded 18 career 100-yard efforts to surpass the school record held by former Patriots and Colts receiver Austin Collie. Hoffman's best season was as a junior in 2012, as he finished with 1,248 yards to rank 12th in the FBS. That 100-catch season included four straight 100-yard efforts to close it. Hoffman wasn't as effective this past year, finishing with 57 receptions for 894 yards and a career-worst five touchdown catches. It was a difficult senior season which began with Hoffman missing one game due to a hamstring problem before he was suspended for another for violating team rules. Hoffman did not enjoy a particularly strong week at the Senior Bowl as he had trouble getting open against elite cornerbacks. Things got even worse at the NFL combine, where he didn't grade out as a top performer in any category. His 40-yard dash time of 4.65 seconds was unspectacular and his vertical leap of 27 1/2 inches was more than a foot worse than the best wide receiver. Another lowlight was a 108-inch broad jump that calls into question Hoffman's athleticism. Hoffman projects as a low-round draft pick, although it's probably just as likely he won't be selected.
