Scouting Report
A late climber up the board due to a spectacular showing at the NFL scouting combine, Poe appears to have played himself into the first round after deciding to enter the draft a year early. Despite his imposing size, Poe was able to run the 40-yard dash in an official time of 4.98 seconds, with some claiming his unofficial time was 4.87 seconds. Additionally, he put up 44 reps at 225 pounds in the bench press, the most of any prospect who attended the combine. Poe is a raw talent, though, and his biggest asset right now is that he requires a double-team to be moved. He can collapse the middle of an offensive line and has exceptional length to keep blockers at bay. For all the intrigue that surrounds his athletic ability, Poe will have to learn technique - most notably getting leverage - while getting off the ball quicker to improve his pass-rushing abilities. Poe was a second-team All-Conference USA selection after finishing with 33 tackles - eight for loss - and one sack in 2011. He started all of Memphis' 24 games the last two seasons. Poe also made the C-USA all-freshman team in 2009 and was an honorable mention all-conference selection in 2010.
