| Gray rushed for more than 1,000 yards and had 12 touchdowns on the ground in each of his final two seasons at Texas A&M, gaining 1,045 in 2011 despite missing the last two games with a stress fracture in his left shoulder. He recovered from that injury in time to have an impressive showing at the NFL combine, where he tied for fifth among running backs with a 40-yard dash time of 4.47 seconds and tied for eighth in the bench press with 21 reps. Gray was also a solid pass catcher out of the backfield with 103 receptions for 776 yards and six TDs in 49 career games with the Aggies, and he averaged 23.7 yards and scored twice on 99 kickoff returns. Gray is a strong, athletic back who excels at taking the ball outside, but one aspect of his game that needs work is deciding when to give up on hitting the hole and bounce to the corner. Some scouts believe he has the power to be a short-yardage back in the NFL if he gets more aggressive in the backfield. Named first-team all-Big 12 in his senior season, Gray is likely to be selected in the middle rounds. |
