|Cole played 51 games in his four-year career at North Carolina State and had his best season as a senior, making 108 tackles and recording 5 1/2 sacks - both career highs. He boasts NFL size and strength, and relies on his power and late explosiveness to eagerly take on offensive lineman and ballcarriers. Competitive and fiery, Cole possesses the necessary attributes to develop into a solid run-stuffer in the pros, and could be ticketed for the strong-side linebacker spot. He has excellent instincts and anticipation, giving him the ability to get to the ball quickly coming out of the backfield. Cole is also solid in pass coverage, with good agility and speed for his position as evidenced by posting the fifth-best time in the 3-cone drill at the combine at 6.96 seconds. He earned an invite to the Senior Bowl. Despite those attributes, Cole may be considered something of a project. He often takes poor angles to ballcarriers and his tackling needs work, as he sometime relies on his ability to deliver the big hit instead of wrapping up with his long arms. He's not a polished pass rusher, as he hasn't developed many moves to get to the quarterback, though he shows good power on bull rushes. Cole's shortcomings should be correctable through coaching, and he's likely to be viewed as having a high ceiling. He may be drafted in the middle to lower rounds by a team willing to give him time to develop.
