| Moore finished his Boise State career as the winningest quarterback in NCAA history and ranks among the top five in FBS history in touchdown passes (142), yards passing (14,667), pass efficiency rating (169.0) and completion percentage (69.8). None of that, however, seems to matter much to NFL teams. Although all Moore did in college was compile a 50-3 record while putting up eye-popping numbers, most scouts feel his size, arm strength and accuracy are not equipped for the NFL game. The left-hander makes good decisions in the pocket and has the skill to hit his receivers on short throws, but he really struggles in the vertical passing game. His mechanics are somewhat unconventional and he puts too much air under his deep throws. Moore is also one of the smallest quarterbacks in the draft class, and most teams believe he'll have trouble seeing over his linemen. Of course, there are exceptions to this fear. Doug Flutie played more than 20 seasons in the NFL and CFL and he didn't top six feet. Moore, however, isn't much of an athlete and doesn't possess a lot of mobility. His time of 4.94 seconds in the 40-yard dash was the second-slowest of the 14 quarterbacks that participated in the scouting combine. He also had the worst vertical jump, worst broad jump and slowest time in the 20-yard shuttle of participating QBs. His weaknesses seem to far outweigh all his collegiate victories and astounding stats, and it seems likely his name will still be on the board heading into the final round of the draft. |
