Scouting Report
| A prototypical wing player who boasts excellent athleticism and can score from anywhere on the floor, Lamb left Connecticut after a sophomore season in which he averaged 17.7 points and 4.9 rebounds. A starter for both seasons with the Huskies, he stood out during the 2011 Big East tournament and NCAA tournament as UConn made its improbable run to the national championship. A mostly strong second season led to his decision to turn pro, and his versatile offensive game and defensive abilities should have him in demand for teams picking in the lottery. Lamb's 7-foot wingspan causes big problems for the player he's guarding, and it should also help him get off his smooth shot over the bigger defenders he'll face in the NBA. Lamb moves well without the ball to find open shots, can hit the 3-pointer and can put it on the floor to get to the basket effectively. Perhaps the biggest concern over Lamb came into focus this past season after former Huskies star Kemba Walker had departed for the NBA. Having played a supporting role to Walker as a freshman, Lamb seemed to struggle adapting to the lead role at times and appeared less than assertive in some games. He'll also likely need to add bulk to his thin frame to avoid being pushed around in the pros. However, as a natural scorer and talented defensive player, he seems unlikely to be around past the middle of the first round even if he doesn't go in the top 10. |
