Scouting Report
| The reigning Conference USA player of the year, Barton averaged 18.0 points to lead the league in scoring and was seventh in rebounding with 8.0 per game during his sophomore season at Memphis. He decided to skip his last two years of college and will be fortunate if he sneaks into the first round. The Baltimore native set a school record for sophomores with 631 points, becoming one of nine Memphis players to top 1,000 points while playing only two seasons. As a freshman, Barton started 25 of 35 games and averaged 12.3 points and 4.9 rebounds while logging the most minutes for the Tigers. Prior to college, Barton attended four different schools and led the last one - Brewster Academy - to a National Prep Championship crown. Barton's main assets are his length and athleticism since he fits the NBA profile for wing players, although he must gain some weight. However, he has yet to demonstrate the skill level to play on the perimeter and must improve his ballhandling, shooting and court awareness to be a factor at the next level. His rebounding is one of his best assets as he ranked eighth nationally among guards this past season and seems to have a nose for the ball. |
