Luke Babbitt

Scouting Report

Babbitt has hired an agent, and is giving up his final two years of eligibility to enter the draft. An honorable mention All-American, Babbitt started all 68 games in two years at Nevada. He averaged 21.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per game this past season, earning Western Athletic Conference most valuable player honors. With good size and shooting touch, he's expected to get a look at small forward and shooting guard. Babbitt has a smooth left-handed stroke, making nearly 90 percent of his free throws, and 42 percent of his 3-point attempts over his carer with the Wolf Pack. He has NBA 3-point range, and isn't strictly a set shooter. Babbitt can make off-balance jumpers, and isn't rattled when his shot is contested. He set a single-season school record with 199 free throws made, knocking down his final 34 attempts while leading Nevada to a second-place finish in the WAC. A high-energy player, Babbitt's intensity serves him well as a rebounder. He's not an exceptional athlete, however, and could be a liability on defense at the next level. Babbitt may not be quick enough to handle shooting guards, and will need to get stronger to contend with some of the NBA's tougher forwards. Babbitt is a classic tweener who isn't expected to be selected until late in the first round.
