Scouting Report
| Christie elected to go pro after showing promise as a freshman for the Spartans. He's capable of playing either shooting guard or small forward. |
| Christie averaged 9.3 points and 3.5 rebounds while starting 35 games. He scored in double digits 13 times but only reached that level three times over his final 16 college games. |
| Christie shot just 31.7 percent from 3-point range -- and 38.2 overall -- in his lone college season. He's a pick for the future more so than the 2022-23 campaign. |
| Strengths: Has big-time potential and a lot of room to grow as a player. He'll be selected in the latter portion of the first round at age 19 with teams having an eye of what he will be like at age 22 or 23. Was very effective at scoring in the mid-range with his shooting range expected to improve over time. Played for a college coach (Tom Izzo) who doesn't let any player slack on defense and he put forth a strong effort on that side of the ball. At 6-6, 190 there is plenty of room to bulk up over the next few years. |
| Weaknesses: His struggles down the stretch of last season point to a player that needs more time to develop. He averaged just 5.5 points in two NCAA Tournament games and didn't step up in the big-game spotlight. Doesn't have consistent handles, which could be a problem against quicker defenders. Had trouble getting to the free-throw line (2.1 attempts per game) and he will need to get there more often at the next level. Would have been better served to play one more season of college hoops. |
