| As a four-star high school recruit, this native of South Bend, Ind. stayed very close to home to play for Notre Dame over the likes of Purdue, Maryland and Xavier. |
| He averaged 14.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.3 steals as a freshman to propel the Fighting Irish to the upper tier of a less dominant than usual ACC. He scored 24 points with six 3-pointers on the road against a good Wake Forest team and posted 18 points and four steals against the likes of North Carolina. |
| Wesley's game comes with several question marks, but scouts like him as a late first-round pick. |
| Strengths: Good size at 6-foot-5, especially at point guard. Can play both guard positions but talented enough to become an offense's primary ball-handler. Gets his own shots. Athletic, limber and fast. Good cutter, penetrating with some oomph. Notre Dame trusted him with a lot. Moves the ball. Wins in transition. Has drawn praise for his defense. |
| Weaknesses: Quite raw. His lone year in college was too inconsistent. Notre Dame made its run from the First Four to the Sweet 16 almost in spite of him; in three games he averaged 12.3 points and 5.0 rebounds but also went 0-for-8 from 3-point range and made seven turnovers against five assists. Just a 65.7 percent free-throw shooter and doesn't get to the line often. Finishing at the rim needs work. |
