| A three-star prospect at Sierra Canyon (Calif.), Koloko played on a loaded state championship team that included Kenyon Martin Jr. (Houston Rockets), Scotty Pippen Jr. (Vanderbilt) and Casius Stanley (Duke). |
| Played soccer in his native Cameroon before picking up basketball at age 15 after his family moved to Southern California. |
| The 6-11, 230-pound center took huge strides in each of his three seasons at Arizona, averaging 12.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks this past season. |
| Strengths: Protecting the rim is his primary asset, a skill that's facilitated by his 7-5 wingspan. Light on his feet and bouncy. Named Pac 12 defensive player of the year. Good fundamentally-sound rebounder., quick to the ball. Diligent at both ends of the floor with an unwavering intensity. Hard to gauge his upside. His age (22) suggests there's not a high ceiling. But considering how far he's come during his college career, there's reason to believe he's a late bloomer with more room for growth. As a freshman, averaged just 2.3 points and 2.4 rebounds in 8.3 minutes per game. Figures to go early in the second round. |
| Weaknesses: Struggles with ball-handling but has become adept at passing to the open man when he gets double-teamed upon receiving an entry pass. Limited offensive repertoire, depending heavily on dunks and rim runs. Not much of a threat in the mid-range. Does shoot free throws well however, making 73.5% this past season, suggesting he can develop a reliable shot even without much natural touch. Needs more strength. Has plenty of straight-line speed but lacks lateral quickness, a shortfall that's especially evident on perimeter switches. Right-hand dominant. |
