NBA Draft

Filip Petrusev

Scouting Report

The 6-foot-11 forward is considered a versatile player with tons of skill, though his specific role for an NBA team might be debated.
Petrusev played two seasons for Gonzaga, becoming the West Coast Conference's Player of the Year during the past season, when he averaged 17.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. He turned 20 years old in the spring.
Rather than risking the uncertainty of the 2020-21 college season, Petrusev signed a professional contract in his native Serbia in July. This puts him in the mix for the NBA draft as well.
Still, this is considered a gamble by some observers because another season with a high-powered Gonzaga team might have increased his stock.
He'll most likely play a forward position in the NBA, probably the 4-spot. Some draft projections list him as a center.
He has the ability to make things look smooth. Still, his range on the offensive end remains a bit in doubt, though that's also an area where progress was made. If that continues at a steady rate, he could be the ideal addition to an NBA roster.
With many of the WCC opponents not having the personnel to match up with him, it wasn't easy to get a good evaluation at times. Even with the season of college success, some scouts would have liked to have seen a larger sample of his work.
Petrusev played on a Gonzaga team with highly skilled players. Depending on the opponent, he wasn't always the focal point for opposing defenses, but he's likely to encounter more resistance from NBA frontcourts.
Projection: Second round
