| An under-the-radar prospect at St. John's Jesuit in Toledo who worked hard enough in his four seasons at Virginia Commonwealth to become a fringe NBA prospect. |
| The 6-6 left-hander was the Toledo Blade player of the year three times but only a two-star prospect, receiving offers from Akron, Duquesne, Richmond, Toledo and Wichita State. |
| Two-year starter at VCU was the team's top scorer at 14.1 points per game and rebounder at 6.0 per game in his senior season. Also averaged 3.0 assists and 1.6 steals. |
| Strengths: Defensive standout with a 7-foot wingspan showed a knack for help defense and getting into passing lanes, producing blocks and steals. Creates turnovers with his length, quickness and anticipation. Guarding point guards with elite quickness could be an issue however. Over his last two seasons at VCU, Williams shot 40% from beyond the arc. Excelled as catch-and-shoot 3-point shooter and off the dribble. Excellent facilitator, always looks to make the extra pass. Moves well without the ball. Shot 81.4% from the free-throw line as a senior. |
| Weaknesses: Decided lack of athleticism and physicality. He compensates for it with his craftiness. Lacks a quick first step and has trouble separating from defenders. Not a good ball handler, but still a creator because of his floor vision and pass-first mentality. Lacking as a one-on-one defender. Turnover prone, averaging 2.9 per game in his senior year. Has a tendency to disappear during games with a lack of ability to get his own shot. Has a slow release on his jumper. Might be a finished product because of his advanced age. He turns 22 in August. Could stick with a team as an undrafted free agent. |
