NBA Draft

Corey Kispert

Scouting Report

OVERVIEW
Kispert is a rare first-round prospect who played all four seasons in college, and he got better every single one while leading Gonzaga to the NCAA title game this season. He averaged career bests of 18.6 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 52.9 percent overall and 44 percent from 3-point range - also career highs. All of those marked an uptick from a very good junior season in which Kispert averaged 13.9 points on 47.4 percent shooting, including 43.8 percent from deep.
ANALYSISPositives: Kispert is a skilled shooter, pure and simple. What team in the NBA wouldn't want an upgrade when it comes to shooting? Some scouts have compared him to the Brooklyn Nets' Joe Harris because of his consistency and his ability to drain shots from beyond the arc. He also developed as a team leader at Gonzaga and did not shy from the spotlight as the Bulldogs advanced through the tournament.
Negatives: Kispert, 22, could be considered "old" in NBA draft circles. His ability to keep up on defense also is a question mark as he will compete with the world's best athletes. But in the middle of the first round, a team likely will be willing to take on a high-end shooter even if it means he could sacrifice something on the opposite end of the court.
