NBA Draft

Gabriele Procida

Scouting Report

This player from Italy turned 20 years old in June and he has been playing on the professional level since age 17. He landed a spot in 2021 on Italy's senior national team, so he has been on the radar for quite some time.
Procida is a 6-foot-7 player who doesn't lack confidence. He'll be pegged as a wing, though probably not a primary ball handler. He has built a reputation based on being a pure shooter, and he's capable of filling it up from beyond the 3-point arc.
He's going to receive higher grades for athleticism compared to other young European players through the years.
Strengths: Perimeter shooting is something that should allow him to blossom. He'll aim to complete highlight-type plays and often deliver on them, so confidence is something that could be a plus. His leaping ability is legitimate and that gives him an edge in some matchups. If the right team is willing to take a chance, he could mesh into a key player if his shooting remains an asset as that gives him time to refine other parts of his game. He generally has a good knack for the game and his basketball IQ seems to be on point.
Weaknesses: He'll need to get stronger to absorb contact in the lane. He doesn't protect the ball at times, so valuing ball security is something that could use improvement. He has had an assist-turnover ratio that was close to 1-to-1 with his Italian team, Fortitudo Bologna. Some of that could stem from still needing to develop physically. He hasn't shown a knack for strong play in a structured system, so how he adapts to a new environment could be an issue. He frequently depends on others to help set up his scoring opportunities.
