Anthony starting for Knicks against Nets

NEW YORK (AP) Carmelo Anthony is returning to the Knicks' starting lineup against Brooklyn after missing two games because of a sprained left ankle.

Anthony worked out before the game Wednesday and decided he was set to go. Coach Mike Woodson said beforehand that if Anthony told him that he was ready, he would consult with team medical staff to determine how many minutes the All-Star forward could play.

Anthony was hurt last Thursday night against the Lakers when he landed awkwardly after a foul by Dwight Howard.

Anthony is second in the NBA with 27.9 points per game, including a season-high 45 on Dec. 11 in Brooklyn in the last matchup with the Nets.

The Knicks were without reserve forwards Steve Novak (ill) and Rasheed Wallace (sore left foot).
