ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) Jacque Vaughn says he's "humbled" to become the Magic's next head coach and that he's excited to lead the team next season, no matter what Orlando's roster looks in the face of Dwight Howard's unsolved status.

Vaughn was named the 10th coach in franchise history over the weekend and was officially introduced in a news conference Monday.

He takes over for Stan Van Gundy, who was fired in May. The 37-year-old Vaughn has yet to hold a head coaching post, but the former player spent the past two seasons as an assistant with San Antonio.

General manager Rob Hennigan confirmed a recent meeting with Howard, but says he's keeping the details confidential.

Magic CEO Alex Martins called Vaughn "the right person for this moment in our history."
