Celtics C Jermaine O'Neal has wrist surgery

BOSTON (AP) Boston Celtics center Jermaine O'Neal had season-ending surgery on his left wrist Friday.

O'Neal appeared in 25 games for the Celtics this season, averaging five points and 5.4 rebounds in 22.8 minutes.

The arthroscopic surgery was performed by team doctor Brian McKeon and Dr. Drew Terrono at New England Baptist Hospital.

A first-round draft pick by Portland in 1996, O'Neal played 16 seasons with the Trail Blazers, Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat. He averaged more than 20 points in four straight seasons with Indiana (2002-06).
