Crowder pulled down five rebounds and had two assists, accumulating a plus-minus of -2 in his 34:44 of playing time. He added two steals. Crowder went 1 of 5 from 3-point range.
Analysis: Crowder didn't have a great shooting night but showed he can do a little bit of everything as he faced his former team. He should be a productive fantasy player as long as he remains part of the starting lineup.
Aug. 25 8:47 PM PT9:47 PM MT10:47 PM CT11:47 PM ET3:47 GMT11:47 8:47 PM MST10:47 PM EST7:47 UAE (+1)05:4723:47 ET10:47 PM CTNaN: - The Cleveland Cavaliers examined Isaiah Thomas on Friday in Cleveland and apparently there are questions about his recovery from a postseason hip injury. Cavaliers officials are looking at the test results, ESPN.com reported, and how it might affect the trade that shipped Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics earlier this week. There is speculation that the condition of his injured hip could void the deal.
Analysis: Tuesday's trade included Crowder, Ante Zizic and the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first-round draft pick going to the Cavaliers for Irving. There's also the possibility that rather than voiding the deal the Cavaliers could ask for additional compensation such as another draft pick. Thomas suffered the injury during the playoffs and is rehabbing the hip. ESPN reported that he has not begun running.
Aug. 22 4:32 PM PT5:32 PM MT6:32 PM CT7:32 PM ET23:32 GMT7:32 4:32 PM MST6:32 PM EST3:32 UAE (+1)01:3219:32 ET6:32 PM CTNaN: - The Celtics have traded Crowder along with All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas, center Ante Zizic and a 2018 first-round pick originally belonging to the Nets to the Cavaliers for point guard Kyrie Irving.
Analysis: Though obviously not the headliner of the blockbuster deal, Crowder could be an astute pickup for a Cleveland squad that had its need for a shutdown wing defender exposed during the 2017 NBA Finals. The five-year veteran may not be a starter, but still should receive plenty of minutes in a role similar to Andre Iguodala's in Golden State.
