|Jan. 8 5:17 PM PT6:17 PM MT7:17 PM CT8:17 PM ET1:17 GMT9:17 6:17 PM MST8:17 PM EST5:17 UAE (+1)02:1720:17 ET7:17 PM CT23:17 - The Minnesota Timberwolves have activated forward Chase Budinger for the first time this season. He was activated Wednesday before the Wolves hosted the Phoenix Suns. He missed the first 34 games of the season after having surgery on a torn meniscus in his left knee before the preseason.
Analysis: Budinger was signed this summer to a three-year, $15 million deal even after he missed much of last season with a similar injury. Budinger tore the meniscus again during workouts in August and had surgery to remove part of it in September. Coach Rick Adelman says Budinger will be limited to 15-20 minutes as he begins working his way back. The Wolves are hoping his outside shooting and ability to move without the ball will help stabilize a struggling second unit.

Analysis: Budinger likely remains a month or more from playing in games after offseason surgery to remove a portion of the meniscus in his knee. Budinger was doing some individual shooting drills after practice on Monday. He says he's not putting a specific timetable on his return, only that he's taking things "week by week."

Analysis: The Wolves made the announcement on Tuesday that Budinger had a procedure on his left meniscus. Budinger had a similar injury last season that caused him to miss more than four months. Last year, Budinger had his torn meniscus repaired in surgery. This time around, Budinger had the damaged portion removed by Dr. James Andrews. The Wolves and their medical staff took a different course this time in hopes of reducing the recovery time and the risk of re-injury.
