The 29-year-old free agent forward helped Los Angeles win the title in June, but contract talks with the Lakers broke down earlier this week. The addition of the versatile Odom would go a long way toward appeasing Heat star Dwyane Wade, who says he won't sign a contract extension with Miami if he doesn't think the team is a championship contender. |

Analysis: Lakers public relations director John Black said the team had taken the offer off the table in the past two days. According to the Los Angeles Times, Lakers owner Jerry Buss had offered Odom two deals. One was worth $36 million for four years and the other was for $10 million a season for three years. Odom, who will turn 30 in November, made $14.1 million this past season. Black said talks with Odom's agent Jeff Schwartz have been on and off. |
