Phillies recall Michael Martinez, Michael Stutes

WASHINGTON (AP) The Philadelphia Phillies have recalled utility player Michael Martinez and right-handed reliever Michael Stutes.

The Phillies made the moves before Friday's game at the Washington Nationals.

Martinez was hitting .239 in 32 games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He replaces second baseman Chase Utley, who was placed on the disabled list Thursday with an oblique strain. Freddy Galvis was slated to start at second base for Philadelphia on Friday.
