White Sox call up OF DeWayne Wise
CHICAGO (AP) The Chicago White Sox purchased the contract of outfielder Dewayne Wise from their Triple-A farm club at Charlotte on Saturday and moved left-hander John Danks to the 60-day disabled list.
Wise takes the roster spot of Paul Konerko, who was placed on the seven-day disabled list Friday with a concussion. Wise signed as a minor-league free agent on Aug. 3 after being designated for assignment by the Yankees last month.
Wise played 141 games with Chicago from 2008-09 and is best remembered for his leaping catch of a ball hit by Tampa Bay's Gabe Kapler that preserved Mark Buehrle's perfect game on July 23, 2009.
Danks underwent season-ending shoulder surgery on Monday.
