Cubs RHP Garza hopes to pitch again this year
CHICAGO (AP) Injured Chicago Cubs starter Matt Garza says he hopes to pitch again this season.
The right-hander hasn't pitched since July 21 because of trouble with his pitching elbow. He wasn't put on the 15-day disabled list until Monday after a follow-up with doctors.
Garza said Thursday that he met with a nutritionist and changed his diet to help speed up the recovery. General manager Jed Hoyer says Garza won't be allowed to throw for at least two weeks.
The 28-year-old Garza is 5-7 with a 3.91 ERA in 18 starts this year.
