Indians place Travis Hafner on paternity list

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Cleveland Indians have placed designed hitter Travis Hafner on the paternity list Wednesday and recalled utility player Vinny Rottino from Triple-A Columbus.

Hafner can remain on the paternity list for a maximum of three days. He is hitting .230 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs in 50 games.

The 32-year-old Rottino was claimed on waivers June 27 from the New York Mets and hit .299 in 30 games with Columbus. He has a career .188 batting average in 44 games in the majors with Milwaukee, Florida and the Mets.
