Royals activate 2B Getz from DL, option Giavotella
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Royals will recall left-hander Jonathan Sanchez from his rehab assignment to start Wednesday night's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Manager Ned Yost announced the move shortly after the Royals' 3-2 win Tuesday night. Sanchez has been on the disabled list with left biceps tendinitis since May 8.
The Royals will push back their entire starting rotation, which means Luke Hochevar will pitch the series finale against Milwaukee on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Kansas City activated second baseman Chris Getz from the DL and optioned second baseman Johnny Giavotella to Triple-A Omaha. Getz had been out with bruised ribs.
Giavotella was hitting just .217 with six RBIs in 21 games.
