Weaver's no-hit streak ends at 11 2-3 innings

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Jered Weaver's no-hit streak ended at 11 2-3 innings when Minnesota's Erik Komatsu singled to center with no outs in the third inning Monday night.

Weaver threw the first no-hitter of his career last Wednesday against the Twins in Los Angeles. In his start before the no-hitter, he retired his last two batters.

Weaver took the mound Monday looking to become just the second pitcher in big league history to throw consecutive no-hitters. Cincinnati's Johnny Vander Meer is the only one to do that, back in 1938 against the Boston Bees and Brooklyn Dodgers.

The lanky right-hander breezed through the first two innings in 20 pitches Monday night. But he walked Trevor Plouffe to start the third inning and lost a 10-pitch battle to Komatsu to lose the no-hitter.
