Analysis: Harvey was supposed to throw off a slope for the first time Tuesday but he was told last week while working out at the Mets' complex in Port St. Lucie, Florida, that the plan was being scrapped. New York general manager Sandy Alderson said there is nothing wrong with Harvey. The Mets just wanted to slow the process down. Alderson says research shows 11 months is the benchmark for a pitcher to return to big league games after having Tommy John surgery.

The New York Mets ace said Friday he feels great and the target date for throwing off a mound is June 10.
Analysis: The right-hander had Tommy John surgery Oct. 22, about two months after New York said the first-time All-Star had a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament. Recovery from that injury generally takes 12 to 18 months. Harvey said he makes 20 throws at a time from the rehab distance but needs many more while he warms up.

Harvey confirms he posted a photo Tuesday morning that showed him raising the middle finger on his left hand as he was about to undergo Tommy John surgery exactly six months ago.
Analysis: Harvey says his mother took the photo and he posted it because he was excited about the milestone and wanted to have a little fun. Harvey says he won't apologize for simply showing his playful personality. The picture generated plenty of attention online, and the Mets say they asked Harvey to take it down because they deemed it inappropriate. Harvey decided to delete his Twitter account entirely.

Analysis: Since arriving in camp in February, Harvey has been adamant he rehabilitate in New York rather than Port St. Lucie.
