Analysis: Chen left Sunday's start against Minnesota with a pain in his right side. The move, made Tuesday, is retroactive to May 13. Chen isn't sure how much time he will miss. Through an interpreter, he said, "The only thing I can do right now is help myself and get better and not do anything to get worse." Signed as a free agent in January 2012 after starring in Japan, the native of Taiwan made 32 starts for Baltimore last year and is 3-3 over eight starts this season.

Analysis: Chen allowed two runs and nine hits in 6 1-3 innings. Chen had a 3-1 lead in the seventh inning when rain forced a 48-minute delay so the weather cost fantasy owners a win more than likely.

Analysis: Chen was brilliant, not allowing a runner to reach third base. He struck out five and walked two. The eight innings pitched eclipsed Chen's previous longest outing of 7 2-3 innings on May 10 against Texas last season.

Analysis: Baltimore's projected No. 2 starter said his slider still needs work, but he felt good about his two-seamer and four-seamer. Chen thinks he's right on schedule in his preparation for the season, and Orioles manager Buck Showalter agreed.
