Analysis: Toronto general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Sunday that Lawrie, on a rehab assignment with Class-A Dunedin, will play at second base the next few games to see whether it works out. Lawrie has played most of his career at third base, though he did play some second base when he was coming up through the Milwaukee Brewers' farm system.

Analysis: The Toronto Blue Jays third baseman felt discomfort in his left side during an exhibition game against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday and came out of the game. Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos says the team expected Lawrie to be out 2 or 3 weeks "on the conservative side" and could be ready for opening day. A right oblique injury cost Lawrie two months with Toronto last season.
