Analysis: It was a good way for Lyles to begin his stint in the Astros' rotation, especially after a disappointing spring kept him off the opening-day roster. |

Astros manager Bo Porter announced the decision Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. Houston had an open spot in the rotation after demoting Brad Peacock to the bullpen this week. Porter says a corresponding roster move will be made Thursday. Analysis: Drafted 38th overall in June 2008, the 22-year-old Lyles made 40 major league starts over the last two seasons and was 7-20 with a 5.20 ERA in 45 games overall. The right-hander was expected to be a member of the rotation this year but pitched so poorly in spring training that he was sent to Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he is 2-2 with a 5.32 ERA in six outings. |
