Analysis: Plouffe has missed the last 22 games, first because of a concussion and then due to a strained left calf muscle. He played four games for Triple-A Rochester on a rehabilitation assignment this week, hitting .333 with one home run and three RBIs in 15 at-bats.

Analysis: Plouffe suffered a concussion May 21 against Atlanta. He was struck in the head by Braves infielder Dan Uggla's shin while trying to break up a double play. He quickly passed the concussion tests required by Major League Baseball for reinstatement, and the Twins made the move Wednesday. Plouffe is hitting .254 with four homers and 17 RBIs this season. He is coming back in time to play in June, the month in which he hit 11 homers last season to kick off a breakout year.
