Analysis: Stanton was sidelined with a groin injury into September. "He may get an at-bat, a pinch-hit, or something like that. He still wasn't playing at 100 percent," Mattingly explained, "and once the games were meaningless, it's harder to take a chance on him having to rehab during the winter."

Marlins manager Don Mattingly says Stanton - batting .246 with 25 homers and 70 RBIs - will only be a pinch-hitter for now.
