Analysis: The deal was pending a physical and wasn't finalized and the team had not made an official announcement. He finished last season with the Florida Marlins after the San Diego Padres traded him July 29. He was 5-11 with a 5.25 ERA in 28 games. Texas had inquired about Cashner before the non-waiver trade deadline last summer, and had previously been interested in him.
