He threw his first Saturday, the first time he faced hitters since getting injured in a dirt bike accident in Colorado in April.
Analysis: Bumgarner looks to be on track to rejoin the rotation shortly after the All-Star break.

The San Francisco ace scattered seven hits and a walk while striking out four.
Analysis: Perhaps Bruce Bochy should have let Bumgarner DH in the American League park. A lack of offense has been a recurring theme during the left-hander's current three-start losing streak, during which he's posted a solid 2.70 ERA and the Giants have totaled a mere two runs.

Analysis: It is the worst start to a season for Bumgarner, a four-time All-Star, since he went 0-6 in his first eight starts in 2011.
Apr. 9 9:12 AM PT10:12 AM MT11:12 AM CT12:12 PM ET12:12 ET16:12 GMT0:12 9:12 AM MST11:12 AM EST11:42 AM VEN20:12 UAE11:12 AM CT-Bumgarner threw a complete game Saturday in San Diego but was dealt a 2-1 loss. The San Francisco ace allowed six hits and two walks while recording five strikeouts.
Analysis: Bumgarner also went 0 for 3 at the plate after homering twice on opening day. Though he's still looking for his first win, the durable lefty has began the season with two straight quality starts and has yet to pitch at AT&T Park, where he compiled a 9-4 record with a sparkling 2.14 ERA in 2016.
Apr. 2 4:56 PM PT5:56 PM MT6:56 PM CT7:56 PM ET19:56 ET23:56 GMT7:56 4:56 PM MST6:56 PM EST7:26 PM VEN3:56 UAE (+1)6:56 PM CT-Bumgarner allowed three runs and six hits while striking out 11 over seven innings Sunday against Arizona in his season debut. That paled in comparison to his performance at the plate, as he hit a pair of solo homers for his first career multi-homer game.
Analysis: Bumgarner has 16 career homers, three in 2016 and five the year before. He joined Barry Bonds (2002), Matt Williams (1994) and Willie Mays (1964) as the only Giants to homer twice on Opening Day in the past 50 years. He became the first Giants pitcher to go deep twice in one game since Jim Gott in 1985.
