Analysis: Johnson says there is no need to rush a decision on Strasburg's status for his next start on Thursday. The Nationals have an off day on Monday, and Johnson said Saturday Strasburg's next start could be pushed back if necessary. |

Analysis: Strasburg (1-5, 3.10 ERA) set down Chicago's first 11 hitters, six via strikeout. But with two outs in the fifth, third baseman Zimmerman's off-target throw put a runner on. Turned out to be Strasburg's last inning, making for his shortest outing of 2013. The NL All-Star's only win this season came April 1 on opening day against the lowly Miami Marlins, but he entered Saturday with a 3.45 ERA and was averaging 6 1-3 innings per start. |

Strasburg had some discomfort in his right arm during a start Monday night against the Braves. While manager Davey Johnson was initially concerned it could be something serious, it appears Strasburg had nothing more than an irritated nerve from using an electrical stimulation machine. Analysis: Strasburg threw in the bullpen before Wednesday's game against the Braves, the normal routine for a starting pitcher. Johnson says the session went "great" and the pitcher "didn't have any discomfort." |

Analysis: The machines are used by athletes to build strength and are attached with adhesive electrodes. Johnson said Tuesday the device could have been placed too close to a nerve in Strasburg's right arm. Johnson says it is too early to determine whether Strasburg will make his next scheduled start on Saturday at Pittsburgh. The manager want to see how the right-hander throws in a bullpen session. |

Analysis: For the 24-year-old Strasburg (1-0), this marked the start of what should be his first full season in the majors, with zero pitch or inning limits. Shut down before the stretch run in September in 2012, he was dominant against a trade-depleted Marlins lineup that features Giancarlo Stanton and little else. |

Analysis: Strasburg went 15-6 with a 3.16 ERA last season before he was shut down after 159 1-3 innings. The Nationals did not want to tax his arm in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. The decision to keep Strasburg on an innings count with Washington headed to the playoffs was the subject of debate last season. There is no innings restriction planned for Strasburg this season. |
