Analysis: Porcello, who led the majors with 22 wins, got just eight first-place votes from members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America while Detroit's Justin Verlander drew 14. But Porcello drew more support across the board and was listed by all 30 voters - Verlander was left off two ballots.
Oct. 7 9:32 PM PT10:32 PM MT11:32 PM CT12:32 AM ET0:32 ET4:32 GMT12:32 9:32 PM MST11:32 PM EST12:02 AM VEN8:32 UAE11:32 PM CT-Porcello didn't have it in Thursday's Game 1 of the ALDS, as the AL Cy Young candidate served up three homers in 4 1/3 innings and was charged with all five runs of Boston's loss at Cleveland.
Analysis: What a difference the playoffs can make. Porcello pitched at least five innings in each of his 33 regular-season starts en route to a 22-4 record, and he didn't give up more than three runs in any of his last 13. It's fair to question whether manager John Farrell will bring him back if the series goes to a deciding Game 5.

Analysis: Porcello is 5-1 with a 1.69 ERA in his last six starts against the Indians, including a victory May 22 when he threw 5 2/3 innings of two-run ball. The right-hander is 0-2 with a 4.41 ERA in eight playoff appearances, including two starts. Those all came with Detroit from 2011-13.

Analysis: Though he couldn't become the first Red Sox hurler to win 23 games since Pedro Martinez in 1999, Porcello will get serious AL Cy Young consideration with his 22-4 record, 3.15 ERA and 189 strikeouts over 33 starts. His next start will likely come in one of the first two games of the Red Sox's ALDS series with Cleveland.

Analysis: It's the 11th consecutive quality start for the Cy Young candidate, who's 8-2 with a 2.52 ERA over that impressively consistent stretch. Porcello (22-4, 3.11) can post the highest victory total by a Boston hurler since Pedro Martinez went 23-4 in 1999 when he's slated to take the mound Friday at home against Toronto.

He needed just 89 pitches in a four-hitter for his 21st win while striking out seven and walking none in his third complete game of the year.
Analysis: Porcello is 8-2 with a 2.34 ERA in his last 11 starts, lasting seven innings in each of those outings. He notched the first sub-100-pitch complete game for a Red Sox pitcher since Clay Buchholz in 2014.

His only mistake was a Mark Trumbo homer over eight innings.
Analysis: It was the first home loss this season for Porcello, who entered 13-0 with one no-decision at Fenway Park. Porcello and Dave Ferriss (1946) are the only Red Sox pitchers to open a season 13-0 at home. No Red Sox pitcher has ever gone 14-0 at home to begin a season.

Analysis: Porcello (20-3, 3.21 ERA) allowed two runs and six hits with seven strikeouts and one walk to become Boston's first 20-game winner since Josh Beckett in 2007. He has worked at least seven innings and held opponents to three earned runs or fewer in nine consecutive starts, the longest streak by a Red Sox pitcher since Pedro Martinez did it in 11 straight in 2000.
