Analysis: In all, eight members of the Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations were suspended Friday by Major League Baseball Senior Vice President Joe Garagiola Jr. He cited Kennedy for intentionally throwing a pitch at the head of Zack Greinke after a warning had been issued on Tuesday night and Hinske for leaving the dugout and ``aggressive actions.'' Mattingly was penalized for his conduct and Gibson for Kennedy's actions following a warning. |

Kennedy was scheduled to start one of the games in Monday's doubleheader against the Texas Rangers, but will now be replaced by left-hander Tyler Skaggs, who will be recalled from Triple-A Reno. Analysis: Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said Kennedy cut his finger a couple of days ago and threw a bullpen session on Saturday with a Band-Aid on it. He said the Diamondbacks considered several options that might allow Kennedy to pitch on Monday, including glue, but the team decided not to interfere with the healing process. Gibson also said he hopes Kennedy will not have to go on the disabled list, which would only add to the comedy and embarrassment of this situation. |
