Analysis: Simon's ERA is now a major-league worst 9.11, and the Reds should be in an emergency to get him out of their rotation. He can't pitch at home or on the road and can't get righties or lefties out, leaving few things he can contribute to a major league organization other than providing the fans in the outfield seats with 14 free souvenirs thus far in 2016.

Analysis: Plate umpire James Hoye threw Simon out of the game immediately after Anderson, a right-hander, got plunked in the left shoulder leading off the fifth. An inning earlier, Anderson had hit Simon with a pitch with two outs, a sequence that thwarted Tyler Holt's potential steal of home with the Reds trailing by a run.
