Analysis: Nolasco has now alternated good and bad performances in his last four starts, allowing two runs over 14 innings in the two good ones but 11 runs in eight in the other two. He'll get the ball Wednesday against a Cubs team he is 7-2 with a 2.81 ERA lifetime against, but hasn't faced since 2013.

Analysis: Nolasco went 15-22 with a 5.44 ERA for the Twins since signing a $49 million, four-year contract before the 2014 season. He's 4-8 with a 5.13 ERA in 21 starts this season.

Analysis: Nolasco's best performance of the season may have come at a very good time for the Twins because he has been among the names rumored to be on the block with the trade deadline approaching. He's provided Minnesota with a quality start in four of his last five outings.

The Twins announced Tuesday they've optioned right-hander Tyler Duffey to Triple-A Rochester with left-hander Ryan O'Rourke. Left-hander Logan Darnell and right-hander Brandon Kintzler were reassigned to minor-league camp.
Analysis: Duffey, who was competing with Nolasco, went 5-1 with a 3.10 ERA in 10 starts as a rookie last year. Nolasco has a 5.64 ERA over his last two injury-affected seasons with the Twins. He'll follow Ervin Santana, Kyle Gibson, Phil Hughes and Tommy Milone in the rotation.
