Analysis: It was his first start at Wrigley since throwing a no-hitter for Philadelphia last July. Eight days between starts certainly benefited Hamels, who was ripped for 10 runs and 15 hits while walking nine in 8 1/3 innings in his final two starts before the All-Star break.

Analysis: Hamels threw 109 pitches despite failing to escape the fifth inning. The left-hander was also pulled in the fifth at Minnesota five days earlier, getting tagged for five runs and 10 hits in a 5-4 defeat. The good news for Hamels is that he won't see the Twins again this year. He's 4-1 with a 1.51 ERA in his other six starts since the beginning of June.
