Analysis: Young, a 35-year-old left-hander, won the AL award after being limited to nine starts in 2013 - all in the minor leagues - because of injuries. He was 12-9 with a 3.65 ERA in 29 starts and one relief appearance this year, reaching double digits in win for the first time since 2006.

Analysis: Though he hasn't been much better than average more recently with a 3.99 ERA over his last five outings, Young is enjoying a career renaissance. His 3.27 ERA in the second-lowest ever in a season in which he's pitched at least seven games.

Analysis: Over his past seven starts, young is 4-2 with a 2.12 ERA and 43 strikeouts. The 35-year-old right-hander from Princeton has won nine games for the first time since 2007 with San Diego, when he was 9-8. His career high is 12 wins in 2005 with Texas.

Analysis: The 35-year-old Young has bounced back after missing the 2013 season after shoulder surgery. His eight wins are second on the team behind ace Felix Hernandez and he has a 3.11 ERA. It's the first time he's won eight games since winning nine in 2007.

Analysis: Young, however, was done after five innings despite giving up just four hits and one run. The Indians made him work deep into counts and his pitch count was at 91 after five innings. The Dallas native faces lowly Houston next.

Analysis: Young did not get a decision. Young, a 35-year-old right-hander who has had three shoulder surgeries including one last June, did not did not sign with the Mariners until March 27 after the Washington Nationals released him in spring training. He was pulled after seven innings, allowing only one run and three hits. "He's an amazing story," Royals manager Ned Yost said.

Analysis: Young had been in spring training with Washington, making two starts and giving up four earned runs in 10 1-3 innings pitched. He spent last season in the Nationals minor league system as he struggled with troubles in his pitching shoulder. Young, 34, has spent nine seasons in the majors with the New York Mets, San Diego and Texas.
