The Dodgers said the former Cy Young Award winner felt strong Monday, a day after his first bullpen session since receiving an injection in his pitching elbow. Analysis: After signing a $147 million, six-year contract with the Dodgers as a free agent, Greinke has appeared in just two spring-training games for a total of five innings. Greinke pitched on Feb. 24 and March 1, then was slowed due to inflammation in his right elbow and received an injection of platelet-rich plasma and anti-inflammatory medication on March 11. |

Analysis: Greinke missed a bullpen session March 3 because of discomfort in the elbow and he was scratched from a start March 6 because of flu-like symptoms. In all, Greinke has pitched just five innings in two starts this spring. Greinke, who signed a six-year, $147 million contract Dec. 9, is projected to be the Dodgers No. 2 starter. But it's not clear whether he'll be ready for his first scheduled start April 2 against San Francisco at Dodger Stadium. |
