Analysis: Rodriguez was injured making a relay throw to Salvador Perez on the same play the Kansas City catcher was run into by Royals teammate Drew Butera and hurt his left knee. If the veteran closer's injury indeed isn't serious, it shouldn't impact his availability for opening day.
Mar. 4 3:01 PM PT4:01 PM MT5:01 PM CT6:01 PM ET18:01 ET23:01 GMT7:01 4:01 PM MST6:01 PM EST6:31 PM VEN3:01 UAE (+1)5:01 PM CT-Rodriguez had control trouble Saturday in his only game action before leaving for the World Baseball Classic, walking two in a brief stint. Rodriguez had been scheduled to take the mound Wednesday, but the outing was pushed back due to hamstring tightness. Instead, he relieved in the fifth inning against the New York Yankees and exited with the bases loaded and two outs.
Analysis: The right-hander started the inning by getting a flyball from Starlin Castro and striking out Chase Headley on a 3-2 pitch. After walking Ronald Torreyes on a full count and giving up Clint Frazier's single, Rodriguez's day ended when Dustin Fowler drew a walk that loaded the bases.
