Analysis: Going inside the numbers, Pujols has a 47.4 swing percentage through the end of May - fairly high since pitchers are no longer walking him and he is forced to swing more. It is exposing his lack of plate coverage, since the highest number of pitches he is seeing are in the outside part of the zone right below the belt - Pujols is hitting .214 on those usually meaty offerings that he used to crush to the opposite field back when he was a feared slugger. |
