Analysis: The veteran right-hander posted a 2.48 ERA over his first five starts since returning from facial fractures in early August, but he's been rocked for 16 runs in 13 innings in three starts since. Vogelsong will face the Reds again Friday, this time in Cincinnati.

Analysis: The Pirates righty is 2-2 with a 2.48 ERA in five starts since coming off the DL, and earlier this month he called the injury a "blessing in disguise" because he was able to spend time cleaning up his delivery with pitching coach Ray Searage.

Analysis: It was the 39-year-old's second start since sustaining facial fractures May 23 when hit by a pitch. He returned last Thursday and allowed one run in six innings against the Braves but did not factor in the decision in a game the Pirates lost.

Analysis: The right-hander had been out since May 24 due to facial fractures suffered when he was hit by a pitch from Colorado's Jordan Lyles. "It felt real good," Vogelsong said of Thursday's start, which manager Clint Hurdle called a "real pro outing." Vogelsong had gone 1-2 with a 2.86 ERA in four minor league rehab starts before coming off the DL.
