They also optioned outfielder Che-suan Lin to Pawtucket and designated for assignment right-hander Michael Bowden and catcher Luis Exposito. Boston made the moves before Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Analysis: Spears, 27, signed with Boston as a minor-league free agent in 2009. He is hitless in four major-league at bats, all with the Red Sox last year. |
