Analysis: Chatwood, who was activated from the 15-day DL before the game, tried to catch Mike Leake's line drive up the middle with his bare hand. He was looked at by a team trainer and stayed in the game. He allowed a two-run homer to Shin-Soo Choo and walked the next two batters before leaving. He was replaced by righty Adam Ottavino. Chatwood (7-4) was making his first start since going on the DL with elbow inflammation on Aug. 8.

Analysis: Chatwood made 15 starts before being placed on the disabled list with right elbow inflammation on Aug. 8. He is 7-4 with a 3.15 ERA with 28 walks and 60 strikeouts. He began the 2013 season with Triple-A Colorado Springs, where he went 2-1 with a 2.91 ERA. Chatwood is 18-21 with a 4.43 ERA in 61 major league games - 52 starts.

He flew back to Denver for an exam and the medical test that detected a little inflammation. Manager Walt Weiss hasn't decided who will take Chatwood's next scheduled start on Saturday against San Diego. He's optimistic that will be the only one he misses.
