Analysis: Jurrjens was signed to a minor league deal in spring training. He went 4-1 with a 3.14 ERA in eight starts for Norfolk. He is 53-37 with a 3.62 ERA in 126 major league games. The Orioles needed an extra arm in the rotation because starters Miguel Gonzalez and Wei-Yin Chen are on the DL. To make room for Jurrjens on the 40-man roster, second baseman Brian Roberts was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. |

Analysis: In the second inning, New York's Thomas Neal lined a ball off Jurrjens and he fell to the mound. Jurrjens was replaced by Tommy Hunter, who finished the inning. Jurrjens, a 2011 NL All-Star with Atlanta, signed a minor league contract with Baltimore last month. The right-hander was one of the early contenders for the Orioles' No. 5 starting spot, but had fallen behind Jake Arrieta and Brian Matusz. |

The move was announced Friday, more than three weeks after the sides reportedly reached a deal. Analysis: Jurrjens, an NL All-Star in 2011 with Atlanta, is 53-37 with a 3.62 ERA in six major league seasons, five with the Braves. The 27-year-old right-hander was demoted to the minors last season, when he was hampered by a strained groin and finished 3-4 with a 6.89 ERA. Jurrjens has a history of knee and groin injuries. Atlanta did not offer him a contract after last season. |
