Texas made the roster moves on Friday before opening a three-game series in Seattle. Kouzmanoff has a herniated disc in his lower back and is on the 15-day DL retroactive to April 23.
Analysis: Kouzmanoff left Tuesday's game in Oakland with back tightness. He was the American League player of the week April 14-20 and was hitting .362 with two homers, six doubles and 10 RBIs in 13 games since his contract was purchased from Triple-A Round Rock.

Analysis: General manager Jon Daniels said Kouzmanoff has some history of lower back problems and was still having symptoms Thursday, an off day for the Rangers between series at Oakland and Seattle. Daniels said Kouzmanoff was traveling back to Texas and that the Rangers hoped to have a report from Dr. Drew Dossett before making room on the roster for Beltre, the third baseman who hasn't played since April 8 because of a left quad strain.

Analysis: Kouzmanoff continues to fill in admirably at third base for the injured Adrian Beltre, collecting at least one hit in all 10 of his games while batting .395. If he can keep it up, Kouzmanoff may earn some playing time in the future even when Beltre is back, though it certainly wouldn't be at the expense of Beltre.
